@unknown_woodworking: My real first wooden spoon attempt started out so well. Grabbed a piece of scrap wood cherry and started working near a large check which might have been crotch figure. This in itself probably set me up for trouble but I was hoping for some cool grain. Traced a design out, rough cut on the bandsaw and then attack with a forstner bit, chisels, and @Kutzall Tools carving discs. I had a super nice shape going and was about to transition to less aggressive means when boom. As @Jimmy DIResta says you go to school on the first one. For the next one I definitely want to support the spoon closer to where I’m working. I also need to come up with sacrificial jaws as I was super worried about damaging my emmert vise. Luckily scrap wood is one thing I am not lacking in. Looking forward to attempt 2. Thanks for watching #spooncarving #spoonmaking #woodenspoon #wip #woodworking
