[2:45] STRUGGLING TO PRAY? Do you struggle to pray? Do you find it hard to stay consistent — five times a day, every day? And when you do stand to pray… do you feel distracted? Disconnected? Like you’re going through the motions — but something’s missing? I came across a verse that flipped everything: وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ “Seek help through patience and prayer.” (Qur’an 2:45) Wastaʿīnū biṣ-ṣabri waṣ-ṣalāh. وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ “Indeed, it is difficult… except for those who have khushūʿ.” Wa innahā laka bīratun illā ʿala al-khāshiʿīn. We often think the struggle is to attain presence in prayer. But this verse flips the narrative. Allah ﷻis acknowledges prayer is a burden, إِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ ...except for those who have khushūʿ- presence إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ Presence isn’t the reward for overcoming the struggle — It’s the tool that helps you through it. It’s not the prize at the end. It’s the key from the very start. Khushūʿis a science. A discipline. A practice. It’s not random. It’s not reserved for saints. It can be taught. It can be trained. By anyone. And when you learn it… everything becomes easier. Because when you have presence — you don’t just pray. You connect. Prayer stops feeling like a duty… and starts feeling like home. You stop rushing through it. You begin longing for it. Prayer becomes a refuge — not a ritual. A joy — not a burden. Khushūʿ(presence) isn’t just what prayer leads to. It’s what makes prayer easier. It’s something you do — not just something you wait to feel. Those scholars and saints who love to pray? They weren’t born that way. They were taught how to pray in a way that touched their heart — and they grew to love it thereafter. No wonder consistency came easy to them. The Prophet ﷺwould say:

The Prophet ﷺwould say: "أَرِحْنَا بِهَا يَا بِلَالُ" “Ariḥnā bihā yā Bilāl” — Give us comfort through the prayer, O Bilāl. Not from it — through it. So if you’re struggling… Don’t just fight for consistency. Learn how to be present. Because once you taste the sweetness of presence — you’ll start yearning for it too. So how do you learn it I hear you saying?
