He has to put the lid down, not the seat. You should always put down the lid for hygienic reasons but this isn't a win for "seat up vs down". Also, it's not that low, he can easily flush without putting the lid down.

we dont even have a lid anymkre cuz it broke off😭😭 I dont wanna flush at home but i have no vhoice (they like the sear cuz it has like wire into it so my parents dont wanna get rid of it)
