@kelpelfinance: Here is why a ROTH IRA is government propaganda. Save your money and buy real estate instead of the ROTH, and you will have a significantly higher quality of life and more tax benefits. #stocks #finance #realestate
If it wasn’t a good deal the Feds would not limit your contributions to $7000

You can take out your contributions on a Roth IRA without any penalty at any time. Withdrawing earnings are what get penalized on if it’s before 59 1/2.

@Michael Lasonczyk: I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make. Don’t lock your money away for 40 years in a Roth IRA, but locking it away in a 401(k) is okay? $7K is not a lot of money to tip the scale investing for retirement, invest in real estate instead? What real estate are you investing in for $7K?

You can’t see the forest for the trees. All those ways your dad gets income are highly taxed. 7k per year is more than most can invest anyway. Plus you can always withdraw your contributions…at anytime tax free.

Roth limit is only $700 a month. What real estate can most ppl get with that? Most people can’t even max out their Roth IRA.

401k and IRA’s can both have Roth or traditional contributions. They are effectively the same thing depending on whether your contributions are pre or post tax.

ROTH IRA contributions are 100% liquid, even though it’s recommended not to touch it as you remove money from compounding. However if needed you can always withdraw your contributions.

Roth is not a vehicle. You can have a Roth 401k as well. IRA Is a vehicle. It depends on your tax situation which to choose. It’s not propaganda, please do research.

The govt caps the limit at a very small $7k a year. There’s a reason for that, bc there’s a huge tax advantage for us, not for the government

You can remove your contributions from a Roth IRA penalty free at any time. It’s way more liquid than real estate.
