@bigibz1: I'm working on replacing my paid subscriptions with my homelab setup: - Netflix → Jellyfin & arr stack - Google Photos → Immich - TrueNas → Google Drive - Smarthome → Home Assistant Everything else is focused on owning my own data and managing it. Specs: - CPU: i7-10700 - RAM: 16GB DDR4
I prefer usenet over torrenting, the amount of content available is way better than any of the private trackers I’ve used.

all one one server using Proxmox is just a waste of time. run docker. you'll spend more time setting up and painting Proxmox and shared storage than enjoying your media server. each of these can be run in a docker container on Ubuntu server, keeping it lightweight + easier to maintain.

I run jellyfin. It's cool because I bought a fire stick with the app and have it hooked up with a HDMI converter to my crt. I have 24/7 anime channel running on it

Check eBay for old servers/parts. I put together a 16tb (4tb usable w/raid) 24 core 72gb ram and a k80 gpu for 400 bucks. It’s old but it’s got the beef. Also look for cheap switches and routers for remote access and redundancy👍

Goodluck running that all through Proxmox on that little machine. No point unless you're planning on configuring a cluster. I have a 6 node HAV cluster at the moment. My main servers completely bare metal, runs 50+ docker containers, I have at least 15 that run my Jellyfin server. Completely automated. Pulls content as soon as it's released, just gotta add it to my watchlist within Jellyseer. Look into Glueten VPN container to isolate your download clients too. I have a double hop config for mine and never received a letter.

This seems a lot more complex than my setup: Gluetun + Mullvad vpn (no port fowarding anymore sadly but still kinda works), Cloudflare for tunnel/proxy, then Jellyfin, Jellyseerr, Prowlarr, Radarr, Sonarr, Bazarr (subs). But your setup tackles a lot more than Movies/Shows so bravo. 🙌 Nicely done

Hi ! For music i recommend from personal experience to use something other than jellyfin. Navidrome manages music way more efficiently and there’s a ton of clients that are compatible with it and that work well :D I use Nautiline on iPhone to connect to it and it’s wonderful

Dude.. why on earth would you run a NAS OS as a VM?! You’re supposed to use that to then run all these apps. You can also save all your RAM, CPU resources by using Docker containers instead of VMs. Those apps wouldn’t use hardly anything with a container. I run PiHole, Home Assistant, Portainer, a Minecraft server, Jellyfin, Watchtower, Navidrome etc etc and it never even touches the sides.. it’s a 11th gen Intel i5 2.3ghz cpu, with 16GB ram.

arrstack is a lie. you cant download everything automatic without the previous subcriptions. you need to pay at least one month everywhere to have all the content. and their politics said this is ilegal. 2 lies. this is not viral, is lir and must be baned

For anyone wanting to just replace streaming services, i’d just use streamio + Real Debrid for cost effectiveness. This is all neat and basically what i have though, but people tend to forget usage bill for electricity, cost of some stuff like if you’re using a reverse proxy, VPN/usenet, the domain costs, and other stuff. Also, disclaimer for services like IMMICH and Paperless with important data, follow safe backup protocols. 3-2-1 or something else. Cloud backups for offsite backup, but the things about services like google photos/icloud is its reliable with your data. I’d do homelabbing more for a hobby and/or privacy rather than saving money at the end of the day.
