I had a $46,000 irs bill, they said I didn’t pay the correct amount for 2020. I paid it off over three years. $1200 a month. This past year I had an accountant go through my taxes for a business loan, come to find out I MADE AN ERROR in my taxes and paid the IRS $46000 THAT I DIDNT EVEN OWE!!!!! Now it’s too late to get any of it back 😭😭

Sis my man owes like 200k from a business he got left with years ago and he just ignores it. I tell him all the time they gone take our money but he ain’t worried about it 😩 (We get those in the mail. For the past 10 years) 😂 dont worry too much

Ignore it until the IRS assigns a Revenue Officer that will push to settle. A 2018 tax debt will expire in a few years; you have a lot of leverage.

I work for my state as a tax officer. You wouldn’t believe how many ppl owe more than that. A lot of ppl don’t even file bc they know they will owe and think that if they don’t file they don’t have to owe but don’t realize that employers send w2 info to the IRS so when income is reported but a return isn’t filed, an estimated balance is assessed based on the w2 information that was reported. And if your state does taxes you will also get an estimated balance assessed with the state bc the IRS reports that info to your state as well. So glad you didn’t owe that but everyone should make tax accounts with the IRS and their state bc you can file and get your returns audited/adjusted and if you don’t check your mail or don’t update your address, you’ll end up owing and not knowing with penalties and interest assessed everyday.

You need to contact the irs and let them know that the person has not lived there for X amount of years so they aren't penalized for not answering letters they didn't receive.
