today celebrates 5 years working at Meta/ Facebook. tbh thank god I was sending my friends content like this years ago because who knew I would want to be a content creator years later 😂. People always tried to put me in a box of just being a “tech girl” and needing to act a “certain way” to have a job at one of the biggest tech companies in the world. I’ve always tried to challenge those typical stereotypes that I felt came from a patriarchal society of putting women in a box. I was a 21 young girl fresh out of college when I got hired. Of course I was not a “perfectly polished professional.” I was just me- a funny, girly girl, who liked to post online & not succumb to being a fake robot that I felt like people told me I had to be. I always felt like if I just did well at my job, nothing else mattered (& 5 years later, several promotions, and surpassing some of the biggest layoffs we’ve ever seen I can say I was right😌). Don’t let anyone put you in box, be YOURSELF, and understand there’s always more than 1 way to do the thing.
