@chemmpossible: Stitch with @Ayanna It is a caricature. Not a minstrel. We have to make sure we are protecting black history in every way we can. And that includes using the right words in their proper context. I know that wasn’t your goal but I felt the need to educate whomever this video reaches. #jimcarey #minstrel #fyp #foryou #BlackHistory #blackculture #historywithchemistry #BlackTikTok

suga miyagi :

wow. I wish people read more books bc what is she saying.

Himmy•Trimmy•Neutron 😵‍💫 :

And what did Jim do? 😅

Fee Flowers :

words are soooo important!!!

Coco.maniii :

I literally saw the video and was like he can’t be doing a minstrel because he never did black face BIG DIFFERENCE

Phil Good ✨💫 :

Exactly this. Somebody was calling C-Kirk the white man’s MLK and I lost it. Don’t bastardize our words and our figures.

Walkeroftheday :

Yas! Also, here to see how many got confused with word Menstral.

GoddessJo🧚🏾‍♀️🪴✨🏆🐐 :

My Af-Am Experience in the Performing arts professor would be so proud of us educating one another 🥹🫶🏾 thanks for being so kind and positive! 💕

tik tok troll :

you are correct.. black people need to stop doing that. I dont like to hear non south Africans using the word apartheid

mega9 :

Perfectly said. Thank you.

vinnie mhmm :

love this CALL IN !!! very detailed as well w/ why its wrong and the effect it can have in this climate specifically too with the heavy right presence on social media. it doesnt have to even make sense for them to take it and absolutely start running their “debate tours” based on it. hopefully its received well by the original poster of the original video too. much love 🫶🏽🫶🏽

Fee Flowers :

THAT CRYSTAAAAALLLLLLL MY GAWD 🤩🥹🥲🥲🥲🥲

bababananas :

It is that deep!!! And I’m glad you responded try to inform her of why it’s that deep

yicycles :

You're right- I think I'd feel differently if it was just used that way in an in-group context, but nothing posted on social media is that

Separately... Interested in your view regarding Robert Downey Jr and Tropic Thunder. Full disclosure, I have no issues with his performance in that movie.
