LLM programs are vastly different, not as rigorous to get into and there’s no grade competition because the grades don’t matter. LLM programs are largely pay to play. Congratulations on your program but I don’t want people to get it twisted thinking this is the Harvard Law experience referenced in Suits because it’s not.

As a fellow Harvard LL.M., it really irks me when people completely outside the legal field use the LL.M./J.D. difference to dismiss our achievements. The LL.M. class has people from all over the world who are lawyers, judges, politicians, diplomats, and changemakers. The same people will look at a Harvard Business School degree and accept it as a solid master’s degree but diminish the LL.M. The LL.M. qualifies you for a bar exam, and you’re competing with lawyers, judges, and diplomats from around the world. J.D.s have great experience with the US legal system, and we bring knowledge from different legal systems. I loved our classes when we shared how we can better legal systems everywhere based on our collective knowledge. That is what good legal education is about. More power to you! ✊🏼

Wow. People are really rude in the comments about LLM programs. Ever hear of a tax attorney? You literally can’t be one without an LLM in tax. International students who want to practice in multiple jurisdictions get them. Why not go to the top law school? Congrats! Thanks for sharing this info.
