@__discokingj__: Regardless if it’s true or not, make sure you’re checking those tags every time before you buy. #walmart #groceryshopping #moneyhacks #2026 #savingmoney
How do they make sure the $1 item I put in my cart isn’t $3 by the time it reaches the check out?

Dateline or something like that did a segment where they had 15 people in a room, from the same community, all order the same exact items from Walmart. All 15 had different totals.

If they are using digital price tags they are without a doubt doing dynamic pricing

they 100% track you because whether I pay cash or card or grocery pickup all my purchases are on my account.

I wonder what would happen if we all put our phones in faraday bags before we left home to go shopping?

I was shopping and decided I didn’t want a can of dog food. The shelf prices are digital at the Walmart I was at… it was $2.48 when I picked it up and $2.98 when it went back on the shelf 30 mins later 😒

In November I needed a folding table. It was on sale on the app and in stock. I went to pick it up, and it was not on sale in store. I called someone over, and they told me that I had to buy it online to get that price. So I was standing in the middle of Walmart, holding the item I needed, and I had to put it back, and purchase it for pick up to get the price. So it was considerably cheaper for me me to walk out of Walmart so they could have an employee go get the item and bring it to pick up. So frustrating.

Target does this shit too. Things will be cheaper in the app or cheaper in the store with no rhyme or reason. On top of that, here in Hawaii they don’t price match. I hate target, but like you I’m poor and they’re the cheapest place in town. 😑

This is RIDICULOUS!!! We’re talking about GROCERIES! People budget for this. How can we do that now? For a NECESSARY need??? There has to be a way we can sue

I think this is a case of the tags being misaligned. I can’t read the $29 tag in the video to compare skus. The 38 lbs is what costs 29.76. 14 - 12.42 and 28 - 22.78. You should get one 38 lb box anyways because it’s less per pound.

Stop shopping at any store that uses those digital price tags. Leave your phone at home or in the car, and bring a pen and note pad with you, and write down every item you buy and its price on the shelf, then compare it all while checking out. If there is ANY difference at check out, and they wont honor the lower price, do not but that item. If there is no price tag on the shelf, or its been blacked out with marker, refuse to buy it, and go somewhere else. But most importantly, STOP SHOPPING AT WALMART.

Dynamic pricing has been happening for a while. We just call them in app coupons.

I work at Walmart as a part-time second job (because price increases have necessitated additional income). A lot of things are cheaper when “ordered online” even for pickup. I use my shopping app regularly while working and see these differences. If you show the cashier the app price, they will honor it.

It has begun! And Bezo’s app has been doing it for years! I’m vehemently opposed, so I’ve been closely tracking. Take screenshots of items you browse and the price changes days/hours later. Solution: DON’T BE PREDICTABLE. Confuse the AI algorithm. Go between websites. Delay purchasing. Change brands.

Not only are they already doing dynamic pricing, but they are also doing this w it h people’s pay - especially if you are an Uber driver or another similar company. It’s disgusting and I’m not sure why this isn’t on a ballot, to ban.

I refuse to download any companies app just to shop. I will not give them access to my telephone and all my sensitive data to save one dollar by taking my privacy and selling it to others for more money. These companies are crazy I do not download their apps.

I’ve been enjoying making sure my shopping trips costs as much employee labor as possible. Put back price changed items in wrong spot. Hand back items that change price. Check prices one at a time at checkout again. I don’t care anymore.

It’s been a thing for sure. McDonald app admits it. Kroger is going all in on dynamic pricing. Look it up. It’s bad

I have a touch of the tism and I’m on a spam kick atm,Thursday 4:45p 7oz can $2.00, Friday 5:06p 7oz can $3.18 if that’s the make up in 24hrs on a small can of spam. How much worse is it everywhere else. (I don’t buy in bulk bc when I do it’s not the meal anymore idk)

I've been in retail for 20 years. Dynamic pricing has been a thing for a very long time. They just haven't always called it that and it hasn't always been as personalized but they've just gotten better with technology. When you know how to skirt the system you'll start saving more money.
