@pbsdigitalstudios: THIS is what happens when matter goes faster than light speed. It’s not just some blue light. You’re watching Cherenkov Radiation take place. In water, light travels slower, and when charged particles move faster, they leave behind this cool blue echo of light. 💡 #Science #experiment #education

BertBeans :

So it's faster than light in water but not faster than the speed of light

screencaptive :

faster than the speed of light IN WATER for those wondering

captain_ahab_for_real :

I have urges to swim down there

Gardener Bryan :

So is it like the light equivalent of a sonic boom?

Cihan Catal :

Can i swim in it?

none :

what a funny cat video

Eikythril (just call me Eik) :

Cherenkov radiation, my love 😩

KhaleesiTheKittyCat :

I think it's also cool that being close to that water is actually somewhat safe.

wito :

JamesMichuki :

They are not movin faster than the speed of light it is just that light is slower in water

F5verout :

now i understand that guy

antonio_b :

You mean “at the speed” because I thought that “nothing” can move faster than the speed of light

𝓲𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲✨ :

Petition to call it Fission Fuel instead of nuclear 😅

Hendersonhasselfront :

It doesn't slow down, technically, but it does interact with particles more which makes it slower even though the speed never changed.

Baer :

me at 5am:

The Witty Robin :

so a photonic flash (light version of a sonic boom)

an ordinary nobody :

comprehending shedding light is 🤯😬

spliffjohnson2 :

My nickname at work is cherenkov radiaton because I'm so fast

Chris 🥓 :

I can't handle the way he says cherenkov lol

sulomasiki :

Did this happen in RBMK reactors too

Vesuvius69 :

Extremely jealous. This guy not only sounds smart but he looks smart too. 🥰

Wil :

Why do I feel like I’m in danger just looking at it

EspressoFox :

absolute BS.
