@keshaspeaks: Replying to @KBISME I’ve had so many people ask if we’re still married, so let’s unpack it properly. At the end of the day, detachment is acceptance, not hope 😌
You’re not allowed to live in the same house during separation in North Carolina. And you have to be separated for a whole year before you can divorce.

You are on point. Though my husband puts off bad energy, which makes the house feel uncomfortable, I’m detached and have been over a year. I filed for divorce six months ago and our second court date is in June. He was shocked and angered when b the divorce papers were served despite my telling him months earlier that I wanted to divorce. Therapy, stop-and-starts with making & breaking promises, countless conversations, articles, marriage book recommendations, he still didn’t believe me. I’m looking forward to our house being sold in the spring or summer. I’m ready to move on.

Facts! Thank you for putting into words what I obviously am not clearly explaining to the nosey folks. Every time someone says why are you so calm, I’m praying for reconciliation, why haven’t you moved, and all the other awful questions, I just go silent. No explanation needed, I know what it is not and so does he. We are moving on 🤷🏽♀️

This is literally my reality. I'm centering myself over here in another room and he's in his room. My room is clean, sunny and bright, his is cluttered, trashed, dirty and dingy. It's sad but I'm done giving up my peace for someone committed to understanding me.

I think people would be amazed at how many couples live as cohabitants in a residence, peacefully, and productively.

Thank you for this explanation. I’ve been having a hard time explaining my experience and angle to friends and to myself. I was confused on how peaceful I’ve been recently. No expectations, needs, and desire to maintain emotional connection. I’ve been neutral. We have been getting along now and I’ve been confused on how this is working and I’m not bitter or angry. I think I am done. I don’t need anything from him and that invludes affection that I always begged for. I can through a day or months not being hugged or kissed just fine now. Sadness made me stay and anger would motivate me to leave but I don’t feeling nothing but peace. So I think I’m stuck at the moment. It’s been hard lately to understand that having needs from your partner is normal and just because it’s “working” now doesn’t mean it’s better. I can see myself other women staying in this dynamic cuz for so long I’ve been told by him that I should give myself those needs and not expect anything from him. So what defines a partner? Shouldn’t I have needs and expectations? I’ve been in a loop lately and I’m really trying figure this out.

I've been married 15 years and never shared a room with my husband. I think that's part of the reason we've lasted this long. You can be close while apart or vice versa.

We separated in the home before I was driven to leave and get my own place. I get it - totally normal to do what you’re doing!💜

I’ve had my own room for more than 5 years. Being housemates is financially helpful and great for co parenting. There is peace and clarity here. He just closed on his new townhouse and started moving. It’s no rush, no one’s bitter or rushing. Been detached

people get confused over what the opposite of love looks like... it looks like apathy, it looks like indifference, not rage. rage requires attachment....
