I bought a 2026 Toyota GR Supra Premium MT at MSRP. No add ons, no extra fees. This was all handled over the phone. I went in to check the car out, sign and I drove off in an hour. This was a no BS dealership. I was happy to pay MSRP.

We used Carvana last time, because buying my previous vehicle was such a miserable experience at multiple dealerships. It was worth losing whatever we could have theoretically saved in negotiation simply to not talk to anyone at a dealership.

That's exactly it. The system is so bad there are some who are willing to pay $1,000 to avoid the entire interaction. It's worth $1,000 not to talk to a car salesman. that should tell them something.

We all saw during COVID how dealers were overcharging and justifying it as “supply and demand.” Now the narrative has shifted to simply insisting buyers pay MSRP. And now it seems that even MSRP doesn’t mean much anymore, because suddenly everyone is showing invoice pricing and is willing to sell cars at that level. In that case, both MSRP and invoice appear to be inflated figures used primarily as pricing anchors rather than true market values

how do you think people should buy cars? no negotiating? just pay whatever price the dealership has listed with no ads? honestly, I'd have no issue with that but the problem is customers aren't going to be ok with that cause they will and always will ask for a discount. nothing wrong with trying to save money but it'll take both dealerships and consumers to work together to change the system
