My kids school nurse called and told me he had been hit in the face with a ball. She said he was fine but being very dramatic and she didn’t think he was actually injured. If I wanted to get him I could. So I did. I took him to the ER. He had an orbital fracture and required emergency surgery

I got a concussion so bad that when I went to the nurse, she had me lay down, I passed out from 2nd period to 5th and they only called my mom cause the school day was over. Never an ambulance or anything. Schools would absolutely let your kid die if they could.

Mine broke his nose and the school nurse swore it was only slightly bruised. It was so crooked, she still didn’t believe after we showed her ex-rays 🙃 told me I should get a second opinion.

I used to be a paramedic before I became an RN. During nursing school I did clinicals with a school nurse. A kid came in after a playground face to face with a VERY clearly broken nose. She said she needed to call the mom, did not tell her about the obvious broken nose and just made it seem small. When the vice principal came by I loudly said “have we told anyone it’s broken yet”. Unfortunately it did not leave a good taste in my mouth about school nurses

I actually did break my collarbone in middle school and the volleyball coach asked me if I could “walk it off” the school nurse told me that I was crying too loud loudly as they were very roughly pressing on it and telling me that it was fine, my mom went to the school the next day (she’s a nurse and I am now also a nurse!) and told them exactly how livid she was with them.
