Id be more worried that she now knows your address, knows you’ll be out of town and there will be times that the house will be vacant with potentially just the dog inside and she now knows the dogs name to calm if there is an intruder.

In the town I live in, it’s becoming more and more common that when someone has something up for sale, a person will message them to organise pick up, get the address and the ghost the person who’s selling something. That night, the person who had the ad up gets broken into or cars stolen. Happened to me twice, was selling something, got ghosted and then that night my husband’s car was gone through (we’re pretty sure it wasn’t stolen because it’s manual) and then couple months later, he was selling something and the next day we noticed things that strongly indicated someone tried to break in.

As a house and dogsitter the weird stuff happens both ways! I now dont pet sit for people unless I know them, people have really taken advantage of me! Now its just word of mouth :) hope you find a good doggy sitter!! and please dont take advantage xxx

I would just be careful now that she has your address and knows when you’ll be away.. I want to believe people have good intentions but at the same time, people are dodgy lol. Please report them on the app if you can!

Do you find a pet sitter through an site? Is there a way to report if anything happens? ie background checks, registered sitters? Sound like they're just flaky, but always good to know the options just in case.

As a pet sitter. I’ve heard of people doing this. I have a policy with each of my clients that I can’t cancel after the 48 hours before hand unless an emergency arises. Sorry this happened to you but glad you found someone in the end.

do u live on a dirt or gravel road ? I’ve had people cancel to come to our house coz i live on a gravel road 🤪 .. but now they know when ur away and ur address so i would be freaking out .

I had something similar using MadPaws we where so blessed to find our pup a different sitter only a few days out from leaving, my advice is to unsend your address just for your peace of mind and if you did use MadPaws to contact them so they can unsend it on there end

It’s probably not a address thing (if you’re a trainer you addy should be on your business page/unless you have it private) some pet sitters are just unreliable, I’d suggest a pet boarding kennel!
