I would gladly pay the 37$ because, it takes a lot of resources to maintain and preserve this ancient sites. If we manage to get to Cambodia from the Western countries i think we can all spare the 37$ entry fee.

Okay but why are you encouraging people to not pay?? You literally pay for a pass which you can use to visit other temples in Siem Reap. Not just Angkor Wat. And the money goes towards conservation efforts.

Excuse me, I want to recommend you can come at 5am-5:30am because the air every every good and you can see sunrise , you can walk all around Angkor wat you will know about the amazing of Angkor wat . 37$ is not expensive for amazing place. I don’t recommend for 5:00pm because it’s time to close so don’t have nobody to explain you about the place one by one . The last thank u for visiting Cambodia 🙏😊

To come to Cambodia and not see Angkor wat in its full glory is a waste of money in itself . It’s nice it’s free but for me it was the main reason to come to siem reap so I want to see it all, also wish I had a multi pass. Also good travel hack is using other people’s passes, eg people who did the sunrise tour and then going in the afternoon for free

Do you know that it’s illegal to go inside temple after 6:30pm? Exit Angkor Area is latest 7:00pm.

It’s not technically free after 5:30PM, it’s closed. There’s a loophole if you had bought your ticket at 5PM the day of. But generally, someone was being kind enough to let you in and not bother you. But there’s no light inside, the daylight goes away quite quick after the sun has set, and we’re also worried about your safety. It’s sacred ground. You can’t be sure what can or cannot happen. So, if you’re reading this, as a local I’d recommend: buy ur tix at 5PM the day of, go to Bakheng for sunset. You’re allowed there, and your ticket validity will start from the next day anyway (and def safer than being lost in the massive temple ground when the daylight leaves.)

The real answer is if you want to get into angkor wat for free is that you have to have khmer blood. They will stop anyone that look like a tourist for a ticket.
