@mindbrainbodylab: Avoidants don’t leave because you’re unlovable. They leave because their nervous system collapses under real intimacy. Their fear wasn’t your flaw. Their shutdown wasn’t your failure. And their discard wasn’t proof you weren’t enough — it was proof they weren’t ready. #avoidantattachment #anxiousattachment #breakuphealing #datingadvice #ambitiouswomen

Avoidants are sadly incredibly good at forming and starting relationships. The most healthy and safe I’ve ever felt was with someone who turned out to be the most aggressive avoidant I’ve ever met. They are masters at love bombing, they often use a lot of therapy speak and sound a far more emotionally smart than they really are until their avoidance kicks in and they abandon someone who they borderline groomed into being dependent on them.

Avoidants are terrified of getting hurt but they hurt every single person they come in to contact with. I want Netflix to do a documentary on Avoidants. There needs to be a support group for all the VICTIMS of Avoidants and their also needs to be a REGISTRY where people can list known Avoidants- if Avoidants won’t remove themselves from the dating pool someone needs to intervene and make it so- and I understand as children they got traumatized- as adults it’s on THEM now to carry the weight and fix it! If they don’t or won’t- that’s a CHOICE- CHOOSE to stay out of relationships too. This is crazy the way they just go through life TRAUMATIZING everyone they come into contact with- EVEN IF that’s NOT their INTENT- they still do it, so it doesn’t matter.

He knows I have abandonment trauma and what did he do after 4 years of dating? Disappeared and left me to sit in this all by myself 🙃

I’ve heard 90% of this. Learn from me and believe them. Healing after an avoidant discard has been one of the hardest things I’ve done.

the avoidant tendencies paired with anxious attachment was a recipe for disaster. I thought I was doing well emotionally regulated with my attachment pattern until she started pulling away. All hell broke lose, and I lost years of progress to seek that external validation that the relationship was okay. My feelings were valid but the discard rang true, but I hate picking up the pieces again.

He was feeling a pressure he put on himself while I liked him exactly as he is.. we are still in contact but not together anymore, and I'm just hoping he can find a way to heal

Yeah this sound familiar. He told me "I know I'm hurting you, but I don't know what else to do. You'll be happier without me. I don't even know if I want a relationship with anyone after this". I heard from a friend he was back on Tinder just a few months after out breakup. 🙄

I know he did not leave because of lack of love but that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt. Grieving someone who is still alive.

I’ve been discarded by an avoidant and it feels like literal death. I didn’t know it was possible to feel both pain and numbness simultaneously.

Avoidant working towards secure- thankfully I don’t feel the fear as much. Just guilt because I can’t be more involved since we’re long distance. Scheduling set times to talk has helped though. And I always try to at least send good morning and goodnight messages. Hopefully this year we can see each other in person again!
