I really want to love Steinbeck, I literally own the entire penguin classics Steinbeck catalog, but I just cannot connect with his writing for some reason. I've read 3 of his most popular books and they've been mid....at best. I'll keep trying.

I read Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, Of Mice and Men, and the Pearl…. So excited to read East of Eden. I love how he describes the scenery in his writing.

I did not care for Steinbeck when we read him in school, but I’m convinced to give him another shot.

East of Eden is SUPERB. We read that, the Pearl, and Of Mice and Men in middle school — and I definitely didn’t appreciate them enough at the time.

I was in 8th grade when we were assigned to read The Pearl and I think I was too young to understand & appreciate it 😂 I purchased East of Eden about 6 years ago and it’s my goal this year to finally read it 😭

I love John Steinbeck! Inspired to start reading the rest of his catalogue. I’ve also been thinking about starting my own BookTok account 😁

I never ever thought I'd want to read Steinbeck until you started sharing your insights. Consider me thoroughly influenced by you! imma have to have a Steinbeck autumn bc he feels like a autumn/winter vibe and I am NOT BUYING ANY NEW BOOKS THIS WINTER SO HELP ME GOD 😂

I did a summer of Steinbeck a couple of years ago. Read everything he wrote. Best summer of reading I have ever done.

Grapes of Wrath left me needing to connect with others who read it to see what to make of the ending! East of Eden was phenomenal!

Ohhhh this is a great 💡 I need to rank the ones I’ve read. I enjoyed Travels with Charlie too. I just found the most beautiful vintage hardcover of The Red Pony. Great post!
