@kylie.brewer: Guilt is GOOD!! It means our nation is healing and we’re actually addressing America’s racism. Hiding or obscuring the past harms everyone— especially POC #education #leftist #whitepeople #humanrights #antiracism

I definitely agree, though when I say I feel “white guilt” i feel it more like a personal emotion kept to myself. I do try my absolute best to speak up and advocate when I have the chance but inside I always feel disgusted with myself for being of british roots 😓 but yeah you’re totally right!!!!!

I’m German, Irish, and Lebanese. All of my ancestors have been treated unfairly. I’m perceived as white because Lebanese is the least of my dna, so why I should I feel any guilt?

why should i be guilty? i didn’t do it, but i would feel more guilt if i stayed silent and continued to let others be silent.

I'm thankful that my mother (despite her faults) talked to me about race and history as she learned about it in college when I was a kid. Still has a lot to unlearn but Im glad it stops with me and I worked as hard as I did as social worker to help and heal.

I feel more guilty that I can’t perform whiteness in a way that will get them to listen to me than I do for their crimes directly

When my now 20 year old lectured her lily white first grade class - impromptu - on racism, leading the teacher to sit and listen and the principal to stop in the hallway and listen, only to have both of them thank us at the next school event - that’s when I knew we were pointing her in at least one good direction. Had the teacher and principal not told us, we’d have never known!
