Replying to @Sharing Lov3 Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to every single person who watched Ferda’s video, shared it, sent messages, called the shelter, or even showed up hoping to adopt her. More than 5 million people across all platforms saw her story, and the amount of love and support around this girl was overwhelming. It truly shows how powerful this community is. Because of that village, Ferda found an incredible home. When Susan @susangunnphotography saw her video all the way from Florida, she knew Ferda was meant to be part of her family and that she was meant to help heal Ferda’s broken heart. She immediately asked her sister Amy @amygbortle to go to the shelter the very next morning to save her, while her wife Leah @itsabeachinlife was already on the road making a six-hour drive each way. Leah picked Ferda up from Amy and drove her back to Florida, where she finally met her whole family. She now has senior dog brothers, cat siblings, and a beautiful backyard overlooking a lake. They live close to the beach, where she will get to feel the sand and the ocean often. She is surrounded by love, patience, and joy. Her new family decided to rename her Astrid, believing that a new name could represent a fresh start and a brand-new chapter, especially since she seemed sad when called by her previous name. Just when you think this family could not be any more amazing, Doc @doc.torrance , who is also part of their family, showed up first thing in the morning to become Cheecho’s foster dad. I also want to gently remind everyone to please lead with compassion and not judgment. Ferda’s previous family was completely heartbroken to surrender her. They tried everything they could and truly had no other option. They left a detailed note sharing her routines, her favorite things, her tricks, and how deeply she was loved. They also left a box filled with all of her favorite toys, which we made sure went home with her to Florida. She lived a very happy life and was deeply cared for.
