@truecrime.storiess: Leah Croucher, a 19-year-old woman from Milton Keynes, disappeared on her way to work in February 2019 in a case that would later become one of the UK’s most heartbreaking missing-person investigations. For more than three years, her whereabouts were unknown, leaving her family and the public searching for answers. She was last seen on the morning of 15 February 2019, captured on CCTV walking through the Furzton area shortly after 8:15am. Leah was heading to her job at a local finance company but never arrived. When she failed to make contact and did not return home, police launched a large-scale search. The investigation involved hundreds of officers, extensive CCTV reviews, house-to-house inquiries, and specialist search teams. Despite the scale of the effort, no trace of Leah was found, and the case remained unsolved for years, causing ongoing distress to her loved ones. In October 2022, police confirmed that human remains had been discovered in the loft of an unoccupied house on Loxbeare Drive, less than half a mile from where Leah was last seen. The discovery was made after a maintenance worker reported a strong smell at the property. Leah’s personal belongings were also found, and identification was later confirmed. Detectives named Neil Maxwell, a 49-year-old convicted s*x offender, as the main suspect. Maxwell had previously worked as a handyman at the house and was believed to have had exclusive access to it since the owners were believed to have lived abroad. At the time of Leah’s disappearance, he was also being sought by police in connection with a separate investigation. Maxwell unalived himself in April 2019, meaning no criminal trial ever took place. A coroner’s inquest in 2024 concluded that Leah had been unlawfully k*lled and highlighted serious failings in how the suspect was monitored. Leah’s family have since spoken out, calling for changes to help prevent similar cases in the future. #truecrime #truecrimetok #horror #ukcrime #murder

The fact that he unalived himself in April 2019 makes me believe she was held captive and alive in that house until he unalived her shortly before unaliving himself. It's a horrifying thought 😥 Rest in peace leah 🕊

It’s so sad because her brother ended up unaliving himself through grief. He was adamant he knew who took her life and couldn’t cope with it. He believed it was her “boyfriend” who was a married Asian man she was having an affair with.

The police couldn’t find her or stop the drug related stabbing as in my area because they are too busy confiscating fireworks from locals on New Years Eve

I used to work with Leah’s mum, and all I can say is how horrowing it was to see such a broken women hanging on to the hope her daughter was out there. She would still come into work and support the service users. Such a wonderful family that deserve peace 🤍

She was a local girl where I live, there were posters and signs everywhere begging her to come home and asking for any sight of her. Her face was literally everywhere. To find out that she had passed devastated so many people. RIP Leah. ❤

She worked in the building opposite where I work. The sad thing is our cctv rewrites itself after a week so if the police came to us 2 days earlier we would have had the footage of her outside her place of work…

Why aren't search and rescue dogs used more? Yeah sometimes people end up miles away but a dog will find them if they were given the chance.
