As a beginner I think you should always start out with categories that are already ungated. Once you build a good seller profile, ungating becomes easier.

Think new sellers it’s hard to ungate now. Been on platform for 3 years and ungating was easy. Tbf there is a very easy method that gets you ungated straight away but that’s not getting shared and experienced sellers know how to do it

Finally some honesty, well done. NO it’s not easy I’m 18 months in and yes not bad sales but still have ungating issues. Ungating is only one of the challenges there are plenty more, it’s certainly not a side hustle it takes a lot of time and effort

I'm getting ready to start my self I've been advised to try and find ' un branded' products to start with so that they aren't gated in the first place so then the need to provide receipts or proof of purchases isn't necessary are you sourcing your products locally and supposedly staying away from the typical Chinese products as they won't be approved
