Showing disregard… is disregard. and then the disregarded walk away. What’s wild is those that did the least, scream and whine the most. They felt OWED that one sided work. And there’s a lot of oppression dynamics there, sexism, classism, racism, family dynamics stereotypes.

Yes, as a parent how has a very good relationship with my teen daughter currently, I take influence from her, its not one sided. I have to listen and sometimes change based on their needs wants as they do with me as a parent. when they were young it was more one sided but as she ages, it becomes more equal.

For variety of reasons, I have ended up living with my two adult brothers. I do everything in our home. I ask them over and over to do things and they either don't do it or do it so poorly that I do it myself and don't ask again. If one of them does do something, for example vacuuming, he thinks if he does once every two months, that's enough. When I confront him, he says I don't give him enough credit. I am making plans to find them other places to live, but it will take time.

yup, this is why I broke up with my last bf, we would have discussions on social issues and he would never see it from my perspective. The same thing continued for issues in our relationship. If they aren't willing to change their opinion on anything, they don't respect you.

I live in Australia. Our sinks don't have a garbage disposal so my husband used the drain as one instead of scraping the plates before washing them. He also put half a big bowl of coleslaw through the dishwasher.

Lack of respect leading them to not want to know who I am. Instead, projecting an entire persona on me so they could opt out of whatever they wanted because they could blame me for whatever reason. That’s been my life. All of it. And some dishes 😂

I remember a few years ago I had been watching a video on my phone as I went to the kitchen to get a sprite. That video had reminded me of something my husband did that had absolutely broken my heart. When I had returned to the other room, I was crying and talking to him about why I was upset. Then he got angry and said "why are you yelling at me over a sprite". It's intentional.
