This happened to me. I had five teeth on top of each other with the fifth one putting pushed through my nasal cavity starting to show through my nose. So they removed before to allow the fifth one to come on through properly. I wore a retainer for about three years with the artificial too.

my little brother had grown teeth above his 2 front teeth at the space where gums should be when he was very little, it was super weird we've never seen anything like it before and we were so worried about what it was, and apparently they were also temporary teeth and were extracted along with his two from teeth.. fortunately the replacement permanent teeth grew normally
