this is second hand information so may not be true but I had heard they (Wizard's) sent out a survey what element of the commander box do you like best (life counter, sample pack, etc.) and the sampke pack was #1 so of course they took it out.

If I wanted a collector pack I’d buy one (they’re too expensive anyway). I’ve seen far too many people selling huge bulk of precon decks that they’ve bought solely to open the samples hoping for value. If this keeps them closer to MSRP then what is the issue with this?

In all fairness they kinda took these away with the final fantasy set of commander decks, since those sample packs ONLY dropped commander cards instead of a real “collector sample pack”
