Its crazy that GDP immediately dropped when Maduro gained power. US taking over the sale of Venezuelas natural resources increase the GDP of Venezuela which ultimately improves the lives of Its people. If American Safety and cheaper oil for Americans is a by product I don’t see that as a bad thing.

This is about stopping China and the U.S. showing dominance in their sphere of influence. U.S.. oil companies are not coming back any time soon. When they left Venezuela, U.S. oil companies invested half a trillion dollars in Canadian heavy crude production (same stuff VZ has). They don’t want the competition Venezuelan oil presents. Venezuelan oil production will be suppressed. But, you will see a push to get U.S. mining companies into Venezuela. Obtaining new sources of REEs (Gold, Lithium, etc) is main U.S. priority now. For the S. American countries not playing along yet, this was message. I live in Colombia, my friends and family here have mixed feelings about this and rightfully so. As a gringo I’ll say this is what the U.S. does, they are a business sin morality.

So if you don’t know, China and Russia would’ve taken the opportunity to conquer Venezuela eventually so it’s either the US or one of those two other superpowers. I think we all know which is the better choice although some may not like it. China is slowly taking over the world, especially in South Americaand Africa so we had to do something to slow them down.

I think oil is a byproduct. I think it's more about putting China and Russia in check. they been getting cozy in Venezuela. and I think that's a major security threat to the US and it's allies, Venezuela is too close and not to mention millions of Americans vacationing at near by Caribbean islands, putting Americans and the people of those islands at risk

Well said. However, the Venezuelans oil are useless unless it is refined over American machinery because of its thick contents, so even if they want to produced it themselves they lack in machinery and knowledge to produced usable oil. Before the whole Maduro reign, America and Venezuela had ties , Americans take ther resources and produce it and give them a profit for the resources taken, a win win on both sides, that’s how their economy rise.

reading all the reports and the numbers the oil isn't the play. the fact that the Chinese were cutting a deal for weapons exchanged for oil and they are less than 1000 miles from the US coast tactically they decided to do this.

The US brought prosperity to Venezuela when they helped them build out their oil refinery. Of course the US has an interest in that oil doesn't want Russia or China to get it. Venezuela should make a lot of money again but providing oil to the US but it will depend on who's in charge if that trickles down to the people
