And people never consider that a child can become disabled at any time. Just bc they’re born healthy doesn’t guarantee they’ll stay that way. If you cannot handle a disabled child, DONT HAVE CHILDREN!!

And lets not start with sexual orientation. Majority of people who want to be parents also react that way. " Dont you dare say my child will be gay!". They aren't dolls that you can pick and choose how you want them to be.

The FIRST question people need to ask themselves before having children is, “do I want the experience of parenthood no matter the outcome?” Child could be the president, could be a killer. Could be perfectly healthy, could be sick or have special needs. There are sooo many possibilities and parents need to be willing to take anything on.

Also, people forget that accidents happen. A child could be born non-disabled and become disabled during childhood. There’s no genetic test for that

Yes, no one expects special needs kids. They expect every child to be completely typical and it is SO unrealistic. I had my daughter at 19. Perfect pregnancy, perfect delivery, no issues, no special needs in my family - wasn't even a thought in my brain. My daughter is Autistic + ADHD + Type 1 diabetic. These kids need an endless amount of your time and resources, and they deserve it. They didn't ask to be here - you brought them here. Be prepared for unexpected outcomes and to sacrifice for it mentally, physically and monetarily.

My mum had a “normal healthy” pregnancy and I was supposed to be a healthy baby. But during birth with complications I was starved of oxygen and my brain was damaged. Causing blindness and epilepsy, my parents didn’t know how to react to it so I was neglected
