@kelseyrefs: Here is what the NFHS basketball rulebook says about moving or illegal screens. #illegalscreen #basketballrules #foulornofoul #referee #femalereferee
Can you elaborate more on elevator screens. I consider those illegal majority of the time unless defense is trailing. If right on the tall of their opponent wouldn’t an elevator screen be illegal?

most undercalled foul in the game! Refs could call this allot! Mostly bc the guards these days don’t use the screen properly leaving the screener to have to commit the violation

Illegal screen doesn't count towards personal foul?

2nd q re: screens - I’m screener, feet are set, defender about to make contact, but I see a lane for pick and roll. Can I pick up my feet and start cutting in an open lane before/during the contact?

Moving screens are personally my favorite to call especially in JH. If I’m able to call something that warrants a teaching moment, I would do it over and over again

My coach in high school told us we weren’t setting enough screens if we didn’t get a moving screen call every now and again.

OK, so if the defender tries to run through the screen, what is that then is that a foul on the defense and how would you call that?

It's only an illegal screen if you get caught.

No such thing as a moving screen in the rules book.

What’s the call if a screener isn’t set, but the defender pushes through the screener with a shoulder/side of arm? No call or push on the defender?

The key work is ‘stationary’, meaning feet planted as well as upper body. Often times I see in Jr high and High school these kids are “setting screens” and they lean with their upper bodies to the side to stop the player guarding, or they move their feet after the screen is set to keep defender from getting by. It’s not called enough for sure.

1) what’s the line between a defender getting physically stopped by a screen they may not have seen (no call) and a defender running through a screen? Is it whether the screener falls down or gets displaced? Intent of the defender? How do you make that call?

Athena :
My favorite is when people want this sort of call when the person screening has been set up to screen a good few seconds and the ball handler properly uses the screen but when the defender gets blindside essentially because the defenders team didn’t let them know there was a screen or defender didn’t use their peripheral vision
