This is part of my skincare journey that people don’t glamorize or talk about — caring for skin that is inflamed, draining, scarred, and still deserving of patience and love. My belly button has been one of the most difficult places to manage with HS and PASH, from constant drainage to open areas that make infection a real fear. It’s changed the way I dress, the way I move, and even how I see my own body some days. But it has also taught me discipline, gentleness, and consistency in caring for myself when it would be easier to look away. Skincare for me isn’t about perfection or aesthetics — it’s about survival, prevention, and learning my body’s language. It’s about cleaning wounds without shame, protecting skin without anger, and reminding myself that healing doesn’t always look pretty. Some days are better than others. Some days I’m exhausted.
