Ngl I don’t know if I’m either a fictionkin or a kin in general. I identify as a fictionkin but, I don’t think of myself physically of them. But rather mentally, and the ways I act.

I feel like a mix of the two, because I really relate to most Characters that I think about having as fictionkins, but I also know at the same time I’m a real person and I’m okay with that too🤷

fictionkin is not JUST idetifying yourself as THE character, it's also heavily relating to a character, seeing yourself as the character, etc.

So I’m kinning if I see myself as a character, but despite knowing that I’m not that character yet get really happy when someone refers to me as that character and truly WANT to be that character? I just wanna make sure I know what I am

kinning is short for saying youre a fictionkin – the word "kin" comes from otherkin, fictionkins are similar to therians because they both feel as they were someone else in their past life. for fictionkins its the character, they are not claiming that they ARE the character, but rather relate to them so much that they feel like they were the character before, its not delusional its a coping mechanism. so no, kinning is not just "relating" to the character. the term has existed long before but in 2020 danganronpa fans (MAINLY) just ruined the meaning.
