The film is based on two real Hamburg cases. Case one, 2016: Four migrants sexually assaulted a drunk 14-year-old girl and left her for dead in freezing temperatures while a fifth filmed the attack, shouting directions like a film director. The girl was found hypothermic and rushed to intensive care. They walked with suspended sentences. The judge said the penalties "may seem mild to the public." Case two, September 2020: Nine men — with origins across Afghanistan, Kuwait, Egypt, Libya and Iran — gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in a Hamburg city park over two and a half hours. DNA evidence tied all nine to the crime. Eight of the nine received zero prison time! The court's own expert witness, psychiatrist Dr. Nahlah Saimeh, testified that men living on the margins of society with "disordered, unprepared migration experiences and sociocultural homelessness" face heightened risk, and that "sex is also a means of venting frustration and anger… in a group of men with the same fate it also creates identity and strengthens the group feeling." That is the official court record. A gang rape explained away as a bonding exercise! Citizen Vigilante stars Armie Hammer as an American man who travels to Europe and delivers the justice the system refused to give — including to the judge who signed off on it. Germany didn't ban this film because it's extreme. They banned it because it mirrors exactly what their own courts produced — and they know it.
