Being a step parent is super hard, I haven’t had my own kids yet (but I’m about to have my first) and one of the hard things is grieving the motherhood I always imagined (having a baby as a shared first experience, not having to worry about two other kids, etc.)

Second summer together: I again planned everything, awesome activities for each day, vacations etc and our relationship with the kids was already very good, quite well-oiled, not new not awkward, yet the only person getting the “rewards” and thank you hugs and “i love you this was so much fun” was still just dad for every single thing (yes he told them i organized no he didn’t take credit etc) but still he got all the love possible and me basically nothing. Felt totally lonely during our trip as well and i was just 🤯😭 hardcore stepmom burnout followed and I am now climbing out of it…
