@kennedy_snead: Starting a series on how I’m raising an intelligent toddler…come along with me! 🤍 #smarttoddler #toddlermom #firsttimemom #toddlerlearning #babylearning
Research in child development shows that connection and play in early years build the foundation for lifelong learning, while early flashcard-style teaching (like memorising letters) doesn’t reliably predict future intelligence.

repetition was everything for us. my toddler knew all her letters/sounds (lowercase and uppercase), numbers 1-10, all her colors and about 7 shapes before the age of 2!! flashcards were our bestfriend!

How do you keep your toddler from just playing with (destroy 😅) the cards? She loves books, but not sure she’d do well with the flash cards.

My daughter is 20 months… she knows all her letters, numbers 1-10, colors, shapes and she can sing happy birthday, she knows expressions “mommy be sad” she can also tell me she hurts and where she hurts “hurt toe” “hurt hand” … we are starting phonics with her because she just loves it

Even better is finding books that use he vocabulary you’re looking to teach. Reading is usually more effective than flash cards bc it’s more fun and puts the vocab word in context. I loooove that you’re taking your child’s education seriously! You’re an amazing parent

kids this age learn through play. they may learn these rote skills if you do flash cards, especially the letters and numbers, but it’s better to focus on these skills in play and developing their language and social emotional skills through play

I looked at these cards (the ones with the rings) on Amazon! My question is are they easy to rip? My son can be quite hard on things like this 😅
