Did you pull off the rest of it and weld it up? Usually the problem is the door is broke out and pulling hard all the time eventually breaks the handle

If you replace the cable handles and latch with 80's rod style latches you reduce the chances of the handles breaking

billet metal replacements are the way to go they are so reliable the plastic ones that came original never hold up

I have eight OBS trucks. I just keep spares in the glove box( next to IPR, ICP and CPS) for each truck easy enough to change. Never leave home without a backup.😂
