@abbyrodmanpsychotherapy: There are three things you should never say to the victim of a narcissist. 1: “They did the best they could.” Abuse is not a limitation, it’s a series of conscious choices. Bad ones. When you suggest that, you unintentionally side with the abuser instead of the survivor. 2: “Why didn’t you just leave?” Because trauma bonds, fear, and psychological control don’t respond to logic. That’s why. 3: “You should forgive them.”Forgiveness is not necessarily healing for the victim, and no one owes it to their abuser. #creatorsearchinsights #narcissism #narcissisticabuse #narcissist #fyp
The one thing I hate what people say is “what did you see in them”? You see the person they perform as. And it’s hard when it’s over and you grieve the loss of the person that never existed

I am almost a year out and the forgiveness is so real! I get angrier as time goes on for allowing myself to be treated like that.

1: Believe the victim. They are not making things up, but holding back on how bad it really was!
2: Never tell them they have to forgive them, and don't be angry, and return to that abuser.
3: Let them know that even though you don't understand, let them know you're listening. That's sometimes the very best thing!
Just a few things I learnt after I left my abuser

We all have some narcissistic tendencies… to a degree. We would all be extremely boring if we didn't. These days it sounds like everybody that doesn't like someone else is accusing that person of being a narcissist. There are very few true narcissists in the world. I've known thousands of people in my lifetime and maybe two of them were true narcissists. Just because you don't like somebody and they do care about themselves doesn't make them a narcissist.

Yes we can never forget that they did everything, knowing exactly what they were doing. This hurts.

I have been married for 20 years , a few years ago I told him that I don’t understand how he can be so aggressive with me and still tell me he loves me, he told me that he was told by his ex that he was a narcissist but he never believed it. What is so hard in this relationship is that they have a different perception and different reality .

I gave her dozens of times, going back each time thinking we could make it work. As I now know, I betrayed myself each time. I am out of forgiveness, nor will I forget. She deserves neither.

Yes to intermittent reinforcement! studies show that that keeps people going the longest. it's terrible to experience but it makes so much sense once you're done!

Forced forgiveness is incredibly toxic. It’s also not Biblical by the way. Thank you.

Love these! One thing I’ve heard a lot since leaving is “why are you grieving? You should just be happy you are safe and out of that marriage! Get on with your life”

It took me 20 years to forgive my X only because it was “just for me” to move forward stronger. I just wish we had a delete button for our brain …

When I focused on forgiveness I ended up back in the abusive relationship and completely lost myself. Now I’m only focused on healing and moving forward with my life. I don’t forgive him.

NarcissistPD should be taught in high school. The only reason I got duped is lack of knowledge. Here’s how you forgive: they didn’t choose that diagnosis therefore it’s forgivable but you stay far far away from them. Your knowledge is your armor and it will never happen again. This by far is the best tik tok site for knowledge. I try to explain it now to family members what happened to me now. But honestly the only people who understand is this community on this channel.
