@seniorwellnessday: POV: Your dad who loved spicy food and steak now only eats vanilla ice cream and plain toast. You're panicking about malnutrition. Plot twist: His brain isn't processing taste and texture the same way anymore. And fighting it is making everything worse. Here's what's really happening + what actually works when dementia changes appetite and food preferences. (Hint: honor the cravings while sneaking in nutrition—your sanity will thank you.) Save this for when family members criticize what you're feeding them. You're doing what works. That's what matters. 💙 #DementiaCare #CaregiverSupport #AlzheimersCare #MemoryCare #DementiaAwareness
my question is why are yall arguing with them... they're at the end of the line... just make them happy as best you can

My mom only wanted mini corn dogs before she passed away. She loved chocolate before but not when she passed she said it was to sweet. So we gave her mini corn dogs!!!

Oh and don't give them large portions. Small portions may encourage them to ask for more but large portions overwhelm them. My dad only wanted Pringles and Mrs. Grass chicken soup. if I gave him a half of sandwich he would eat it with a cup of soup. A whole sandwich was too much for him

maybe this is also something to think about, I realized that since alzheimers is technically a terminal condition I could put my dad on hospice even though he's probably got years left. Medicare pays for hospice 100% and they are so helpful.
