It’s not normal, but girls could feel free to do it. Guys would be happy if they did. If it feels like a lot to approach, you could do it in a way that doesn’t feel like a full approach too. Like you can go up to guy and ask him how many sets he has left. Then you can ask if you can work in. Then while y’all are doing your sets you can ask his name and introduce yourself. And, then when you see him other times at the gym you can say hey and over time you’ll know each other.
