We have another one that goes like: “Saco vazio não fica em pé”:An empty bag won’t stand-meaning-you need a strong base to sustain yourself or whatever, but usually we say this when for some reason when having been able to eat, so it’s like, i have to feed myself to keep going otherwise ill fall back!!

In Dutch there's a saying: 'you can't walk on 1 leg' or something like that. Usilually used for kids to take a second cookie or treat as only 1 cookie won't cut it.

Portuguese here. Another one I like is "Não deites foguetes antes da festa", meaning "Don't start the fireworks before the party". It basically means that you shouldn't celebrate by anticipation, wait until you're sure there's something to celebrate.

Yet it's the same culture that says "Quem não tem cão, caça com gato" - if you don't have a dog, you hunt with a cat - as in, you make due with what you have 😅
