60g (¼ cup) warm water 9g (1½ tsp) salt 410g (3½ cups) bread flour OPTIONAL: egg wash - 1 egg and a splash of water Warm the milk to lukewarm. Add your yeast and mix together all wet ingredients in a bowl. Whisk the egg before combining. Add the bread flour gradually and mix until a soft dough forms. Rest the dough (covered) for about 15 minutes. Then continue kneading until the gluten has started to develop and the dough comes together. Add salt and knead for 2-3 more minutes till the dough passes a light windowpane test. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Gently shape into a loaf. Place into a buttered 9x5 loaf pan. Cover and let rise until puffy but still slightly springy when pressed, about 20-30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350F. Whisk the egg wash ingredients together and brush lightly over the loaf. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely before slicing for best structure!! happy bread baking!! I hope you guys try this one out!🫶🏼🫶🏼 #bread #breadrecipes #baker #baking #milkbread @Maldon Salt @KitchenAid @Caraway Home

I love making bread, but it is never a replacement for bread from the bakery, the time and effort it takes to make it is not worth the 2€ it costs at the store. Also, butter, milk, honey and an egg remind me more if a cake than bread

🤦♀️I let my six year old help me make this. It's halfway through proofing and I've just spotted the salt that never got added. 😭😭😭

This recipe is nearly infallible. I thought I might have wrecked it when I added the honey late, but no. Its beautiful and so tasty!

Came across your video just in time for the winter storm. I doubled everything to make two loaves. My mixer doesn't seem to like the dough, it started to smell like it was burning. So I just finished kneading by hand. Now idk if it's just me, but I feel like my dough is a bit dry. I guess I'll find out soon enough after it bakes. For now, it's nap time for me and my girls. 😊

Have you ever tried it with freshly milled flour? How about anyone in the comments? I’m trying to find a recipe that works well for freshly milled hard white that rises well.

I think ur measurements are off when it comes to the cups. I’ve tried this three times and get a hard ball that doesn’t proof. I even had my husband try it to make sure I wasn’t insane and the same thing happened

Ive been struggling lately with proofing bread but this came out perfect exactly how the instructions said. 2-3 minute knead to get windowpane status? Check. 1 hour proof? Check. 30 minute second rise? Check. 35 min bake (190 internal temp). Check!
