Like: "And then Pariah Dark was sealed by these 7 Ancient Ghosts." Now, who are they? What are their powers? Oh no, you'll have to see for yourself, right? It's open to "interpretation." No names. No faces. No explanations. Just a very elegant plot hole. However, we have salvation, and its name is Phandom (excuse the pun). More specifically, Marsalias, author of the fanfic Mortified on AO3. This wonderful woman simply reinvented this concept and gave it form. I'm going to talk a lot here, but seriously, you REALLY should read this. So what if it's a forgotten cartoon from the 2000s? You guys need to improve. So, to answer your questions: Who are the Ancient Ghosts? CLOCKWORK: MASTER OF TIME Observer of timelines, guardian of causality, and basically the universe’s “okay, this went wrong” button. PANDORA: HOPE AND CONTAINMENT In canon, Pandora is the guardian of the Box of Doom. But now we realize she's much more than that: she's containment of the absolute. Her job is making sure certain horrors never get opened in the first place. NOCTURN: DREAMS AND THE SUBCONSCIOUS In the show, he appears as a one-off villain. But, nevertheless, however, plot twist: It was all a test. Yes. A test. Nocturn wasn’t trying to destroy Danny. He was evaluating him. Fear. Mental resilience. Whether Danny could wake up after staring directly into his own nightmare. Danny passes; without ever knowing there was a test. FRIGHT KNIGHT: FEAR AND LOYALTY The Fright Knight In addition to being ancient, he also officially serves the throne of the King of All Ghosts (aka Pariah Dark). I feel sorry for you, man. I still wonder how they put him on the council. Although... well, Pariah Dark was the king, so, yes, totally understandable. And I hate to break it to you, but that guy wasn't a test for Danny, he's just crazy. But it made for a really cool episode with Danny having weather powers. Oh, and just so you know, he's on the Council of Ancients now, but he's kind of imprisoned for his crimes, so, yeah. UNDERGROWTH: NATURE AND GROWTH Life that refuses to stay contained. Biological expansion, adaptation, forced evolution. Often in conflict with technology, control, and imposed limits. Another guy who's kind of crazy. His has always been a bit weird. It wasn't a test, but what a COOL EPISODE he appeared in. Sam possessed by him and Danny with ice powers, who could have imagined? He's also an inactive member of the board. We have a lot of prisoners here. And you know what's even funnier about all of this?? Danny, the walking chaos in teenage form (nothing against you, man), defeating these gods on a Wednesday as if they were just villains of the week. Totally normal and not suspicious at all.
