Absolutely not…you have to remember that officials make extra $$ for all transcripts, plus all the value of our free benefits, paid sick & vacation days!!!

I like the stability, benefits, and PTO of being an official reporter. Unfortunately, in my area our transcript requests aren’t as frequent and rarely expedited, and the attorneys and even some judges treat us as double dippers for getting extra money through transcripts. There are pros and cons to every job I guess.

@MissSteno , May I ask how do you handle transcripts while being an official? Isn't the common courthouse like 8-5, M-F. I beg you, I need to know how you survive doing this (bc I am thinking of doing freelance first, but...).
