My favorite read of 2025 was “Tomorrow I Become a Woman by Aiwanose Odafen.” It was deeply emotional, beautifully written, and gave voice to the quiet struggles many women face but rarely speak of. The storytelling stayed with me long after the final page, it reminded me of the power of resilience, identity, and choice.
I would love to win a copy of “A Decent Man” by Gillian Baci because I believe in the power of African literature to challenge, comfort, and reveal us to ourselves. And I just know this book will do exactly that.

The best book I read last year was To kill a mockingbird by Harper lee. It’s about a man that was accused of rape because he was a black man and the icing on the cake was that the girls father put her up to it. The man that was accused later die in prison without getting justice. It will really be a privilege for me to read A Decent Man cos I know it will be an amazing read.

I would love a copy of A Decent Man because it seems like a unique story. I’ve been following Gilbert’s vlogs for a while, and I’m very curious to experience his author side through this book.
This year, I’m also intentionally trying to read more Nigerian books, and just as an FYI ,I genuinely love reading.

Hi. I read a lot of books last year and I can't exactly choose a favourite, one of the books I read last year is 'I Hope This Finds You Well' by Natalie Sue. it is about Jolene an outcast at work with no friends who gains access to her colleagues private emails and DMs after an IT glitch, using the information to navigate office politics and her own loneliness, It is a heartwarming office comedy that keeps you glued to the book. I really like this book because of how relatable Jolene is.
Enough about that i would be really happy if I'm part of the winners and would really like to read 'A Decent Man' and add it to my collection of books. ✌️

The best book I read last year was The Lonely Londoners by Sam Selvon. I picked it up for examination preparation, but somewhere along the way, the book pulled me in. Selvon’s portrayal of economic struggle, racism, and loneliness among Caribbean immigrants in London felt raw and unforced. What stayed with me most was how easily I could see everything. The streets, the cold, the quiet despair. The novel lived vividly in my mind long after I closed it.
A Decent Man by Gilbert Bassey. I have been drawn to the book since the day you shared a detailed account of your brother’s journey. The path he took mirrors the direction I am choosing. Reading from someone who has walked that road makes the experience richer and more personal. It feels less like curiosity and more like preparation.
Thank you, Hilda.
Thank you, Gilbert.

My favorite book I read last year was The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. I loved it because it thought me how important my personal person is and how to take care of my mental health at this same time maintaining my peace. The book was very different from every other book, insightful and very funny at the same time. I would love to get a copy of A Decent Man, cause I’m a lover of good books and I’m re-accessing myself through impactful books.
