Good advice mick. For me it was a spontaneous exsanguination from a oesophageal aortic lesion. Poor fella had no chance. I remember it being traumatic for everyone.

Great advice but I think a medial degree is very much a thing of the past. AI is already massively superior. It’s not perfect & doctors will focus on that but within 3 years b it’ll be massively superior

Great advice! Reflecting on my first cardiac arrest, my best advice would be not to be afraid to pull that emergency buzzer even if you doubt for a split second that it’s not emergency. It’s crazy the amount of support that will be on hand when that emergency buzzer is blaring.

S - send for help A B C Repeat. When I was a student I had a mentor who would tell patients to wiggle their toes while she cannulated. The day I attended my first paed traumatic arrest, all I could hear was my former mentor saying wiggle your toes and that's exactly what I did as the feeling of immense panic took over my brain. This simple action redirected my attention from the anxiety and overwhelm of the situation and allowed me to stay focused. It also kept me from crying until after the job.
