The limit switch trips when the combustion air is restricted and causes the burner chamber to get too hot and trips the safety device. Burner intake and burner assembly usually need to be cleaned not just reset the switch

I bought one with old style valve. They have them perfected been around 100 years. Those are problems right there. Someone always has change something when it works good.

low hot water means lower pressure on the hot water pipes which means less leaks

The little button trips that . .. talked about means the screens underneath the hot water heater are clogged need to brush them out or open it up and blow it out. The other issue is sentiment in the bottom of the tank Which will cause the Computer to trip

there's a couple reasons for your pilot to go out one of them is a bad thermocouple is the cause 90% of the time downdrafts tend to knock out the pilot lights a lot too and if it's the gas valve you should get that sucker changed because if it's acting up when it's supposed to be working properly
