It drives me crazy that doctors don't tell us that this doesn't need to be sterile. Your GI track is not sterile. Your tube doesn't need to be covered to shower or swim. I clean my tube site with baby wipes. I'm a nurse and there's so much I didn't know until I got my tube and learned from others. Thank you for sharing your tips. I hope everyone getting a tube for the first time sees this

I use unscented baby wipes to clean around mine. Question, my j tube portion seems to be clogged or kinked 😭 .. I flush before & after feeding but it has strong resistance while trying to flush… waiting on my doc to call me back

I use baby wipes to clean my stoma, they’re slightly cooling and don’t sting my stoma at all! Another tip I really want to share with my tubie friends is that I use Allevyn non-adhesive foam pads instead of gauze around my stoma (especially when healing/having more leakage). They’re super absorbent and pull moisture away from your skin, also they’re the most comfortable thing I’ve ever put around my tube. I cut the large pads into 9 squares and then cut them like a split sponge and it’s actually the best tip I ever got. When I showed my surgeon he said he was going to recommend it to all of his patients because “it’s the best idea I’ve ever seen” according to him.

a tip of mine is I use hypafix tape on my tubes to stick to me! Etsy has cute ones and Amazon or online has blank ones in bulk

!: I am so so so scared i might need a feeding tube, can you please let me know? I have POTS, fibromyalgia, eds, chronic fatigue, dysautonomia. I had an endo, they had to get out immediately since tgere was food in my stomach, i fasted for a day after and then they did another endo and found no food left, so they dialted my esophagus with a balloon. So basically im pretty sure i have gastroparesis and im getting a gastro emptying study in a week. Every time i eat i am in severe stomach pain, have to use restroom immediately after, really bad stomach acid, and nasuea always. Do you think this can be fixed with diet or is it feeding tube worthy? Im nervous i might need one because even when i fasted for the whole day and only had water, i was extremely sick to my stomach With JUST WATER. any advice?
