Exactly its why I refrain from most modern debates. I believe the point of a debate is to learn from the other and perhaps convince them if not then you learn. Most people debate to 'win' which is something I dislike

I really don't listen to debates cause everybody comes with their presuppositions. As a Christian, I would rather listen to scholars discuss the topic in a scholarly way

It’s absolutely insufferable atp. Even when the “big name debaters” try to debate in good faith they just seem unable or unwilling to give up any ground for the sake of honest discussion and learning bc they don’t want to “lose”; when essentially it’s bc of this that we all lose smdh.
