LA County has the most Black people by number, but we’re only about 8–9% of a 10M+ population, spread out across a massive area. Atlanta is 30–50% Black, dense, connected, and culturally dominant.

Inglewood, Gardena, Compton, Carson, Long Beach, Lawndale, Lynwood, all have Black Mayors that should tell you something its a choice … thats not even LA City w South Central Leimert Crenshaw District Watts etc

I think the narrative of there are no Black people in LA is being pushed to keep Black people out of LA and keep black people from progressing as a whole

Black LA is very much hidden. You have to know someone to find it, lol. That said, it is the best black community I have experienced. Period.

As someone from NY who lived in LA….what i’ve noticed is that LA is mostly segregated - blacks live with blacks, whites with whites, asians with asians, etc. so it’s very easy to not live around a specific race and think that’s how LA is.
