The Greek word for “name” is ὄνομα — onoma And it doesn’t just mean a label. It means: Character. Reputation. Authority. Function. So when Scripture says: “God gave Him the name above every name…” — Philippians 2:9–11 It means Jesus carries supreme authority, identity, reputation, and power. Heaven doesn’t just hear a word. Heaven recognizes a King. The early church didn’t use the name of Jesus like a slogan. Peter didn’t say, “Lord heal him… in Jesus’ name amen.” He declared: “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth — walk.” — Acts 3:6 And then said: “It is Jesus’ name and faith in His name that healed him.” — Acts 3:16 Because praying in His name is not about saying a phrase… It’s about standing in His authority. It means: • Praying from who Jesus is • Praying in alignment with His heart • Praying under His mission • Praying in surrendered trust It is not a magic formula. It is a position of relationship. Jesus said: “Ask in My name and I will do it, that the Father may be glorified.” — John 14:13 So when you pray… You’re not relying on your worthiness. You’re not hoping your performance was good enough. You are standing in the finished work of Christ — His cross. His resurrection. His righteousness. “In Jesus’ Name” means: I belong to Him.
