Every award season it’s the same cycle. Black artists are measured against standards that were never created with us in mind, and then we’re told our work falls short. At some point, we have to accept this truth: we decide whether our art is excellent. Our creativity does not need validation from white institutions to be legitimate, powerful, or enduring.

People went BACK to theaters to watch Sinners. Marty has been out 2-3 weeks now and people are barely going to see it… so the actors whose performance is continuously receiving an encore “should” sweep the awards season.

Mind you, Sinners is literally the most nominated and winning movie of the year. Would we have been happy if MBJ won and sinners lost every other award?

Could it be because Marty Supreme is actually losing money Timothy was given the award to bring more attention to the movie? After all this is a business too.... How many people now may go out to see the movie just to make the comparisons between the two.

he did a great job but his roles aren't anything super amazing. also, the vampire isnt a 3rd role. by that logic all actors that are turned into vampires in their movies played 2 roles then. that means Kristen Stuart played 2 roles in twilight or brad pitt in interview with a vampire. sinners reminded me of dusk till dawn. it was ok, I thought it was gonna be great and was so excited for it and was let down

I am white and I went 3 times to watch this in theaters. Paid for it 4 times and missed the movie and paid for it on prime. IT IS THE BEST MOVIE OF 2025 AND HAS THE BEST SCORE.
