Would keep you bath hot longer but heat rises so not as effective. If you use it for cold plunges than would definitely help

Maybe shouldn’t have done the bottom cause you should have mortar as a base for support, I know where I live it’s code to have it underneath

I wish we did that when we installed our last tub. The tub is so cold until the hot water warms it. It makes for a very fast shower.
